A great sign on Main Street telling you what comes next!
Below is a great picture of Oliver Crispin holding the largest spanner (wrench) in the Doulos' aresenal. Impressive to say the least and it "is" heavy.
Two of the Airconditioning compressors are below. On the day, the Doulos was running 3 out of her 4. Singapore tends to be a hot place.
The bilge seperator below contains a mighty big sponge from what I understand. It is used to separate the oil from the water that gathers in the bilge basen underneath the engine room. Once the bilge sludge has been cleaned properly, it can be released.

The CO2 alarm horn. If you hear that, it is time to get out of the engine room!

Below are purifiers that are used to clean oil before it is used in the various engine machines.

Seen here is one of the Doulos senior engineers working on top of the #1 Generator on the port side of the main engine. This particular diesel generator is a Bergen 5 cyclinder.

And here is the lever that makes the old girl go. The main engine control is seen below.

Below is the odometer at the main engineering station. Oliver said that he believes this tracks the number of revolutions the engine has made.
The engine room phone booth is below. Underneath, the black phone is the emergency phone is powered by sound alone.

On the right below, is the main engine fly wheel. It is huge!

This is a view of the propeller shaft looking aft just past the watertight door.

Here is the end of the propeller shaft with Oliver Crispin posing with a good sized spanner that we found. Directly behind Oliver is the rear bulkhead and not too far after, the propeller itself. We are well below the waterline here.
The propeller shaft looking forward to the watertight door. Interestingly, the Doulos only has 2 watertight doors. A novel invention at the time she was built in 1914.
Below is the engine plaque left by the FIAT engineers after installing the current Diesel in the heart of the Doulos. This is the third engine the Doulos has had in her life and is lovingly cared for by her amazing crew! Well done.
