SuperStar Virgo
The undisputed queen of cruising in Southeast Asia, the SuperStar Virgo makes her departure from Singapore on a Sunday afternoon in late May, 2009. The second new build for Star Cruises, The Virgo was delivered in 1999 and is a sister to the SuperStar Leo (now Norweigan Spirit). At 76,800 tons, she is the largest cruise ship permanently based in Singapore.

After her drydock in January, the Virgo emerged with a 100 meter, stainless steel water slide mounted above her Parthenon Pool. The clear portion of the slide is made of plexi-glass and extends over the side of the ship where it is suspended 14 stories above the water. No doubt, an impressive ride for children and adults alike.

The Star Cruises signature funnel, below, has been retained across most of the NCL fleet. The Libra class of ship, successor to the Leo class, were the second class of new builds ordered by Star but subsequent to Star's aquisition of NCL, all Libra class vessels started their careers with NCL. The first in this new class was the Norweigan Star.
The Virgo sails out of Singapore 3 times a week offering a 3 night cruise to Phuket, Thailand, a 2 night cruise to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or a 2 night cruise to Redang, Malaysia. Immensely popular with local Asians, the Virgo offers a de-bundled cruising experience with very little included in the price of the cruise. Room service is not included and there are 6 extra fare dining establishments in addition to a late night, pay-per-view cabaret.
